enviro-solutions
hello again guys
Ollie here. If you want to keep up with technology and developments in the green area, then the enviro-solutions website is a great place to start. Their mailouts are especially informative. Recently, I learned about eco-housing,
passive housing - is it the future in a climate change and peak oil senario? There's a seminar to discuss the topic coming up soon. This event, called 'See the Light 2007' is organised by Sustainable Energy Ireland's Renewable Energy Information Office (SEI REIO) - in association with the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI)and will take place at The Ash Suite, Croke Park, Dublin on Wednesday 31 October, 2007.
(Note - some greenbox network members do have passive homes and rave about them - passive homes have almost no heating bills, due to their design). Click here for more
Their daily news page is always worth checking out - new green business schemes tend to feature heavily. Featured at the moment include the greening of a selection of hotels, and the casha nd environmental savings that ensued, Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI)'s Incubator Programme for emerging green business opportunities in the sustainable energy sector, and more.....see here

Herbs and Health
Herb Day with Judith Hoad – at The Organic Centre,
Rossinver, Co. Leitrim on Sunday 17th June 11am -5pm
The term "Herb" covers many different plants from several botanical families.
Herbs relate to health, their aroma delights the senses, they are rich in vitamins, minerals and natural antibiotics, they aid digestion, strengthen the immune system and support the innate healing process. Staff, students and lecturers of the centre will present talks, walks and demonstrations and explore the health benefits of herbs. We will officially open our new mint spiral and open air tea-bar with a selection of more than 20 mints.
Our guest speaker this year is Judith Hoad, honorary member of the Irish Association of Medical Herbalists, who has widely written on herbs and herbal remedies. She will talk about ‘Eating your way around the weed patch’.
Naturopath and Herbalist Gaby Wieland will demonstrate how to make tinctures and infused oils. The Grass Roof Café will be open with herbal dishes and entrance fee is €5.
"I hope that exploring the plant life around the fields, city parks, cottage gardens or window-boxes amongst which you live will enrich your life, as it has enriched mine."

Herb Day Organic Centre
The Organic Centre Herbs and Health Day
Herb Day with Judith Hoad – at The Organic Centre,
Rossinver, Co. Leitrim on Sunday 17th June 11am -5pm
The term “Herb” covers many different plants from several botanical families.
We will officially open our new mint spiral and open air tea-bar with a selection of 32 mints.
Our guest speaker this year is Judith Hoad, honorary member of the Irish Association of Medical Herbalists, who has widely written on herbs and herbal remedies. She will talk about ‘Eating your way around the weed patch’.
The Grass Roof Café will be open with herbal dishes and entrance fee is €5.
“I hope that exploring the plant life around the fields, city parks, cottage gardens or window-boxes amongst which you live will enrich your life, as it has enriched mine.”
(Judith Hoad)
We invite herbalist, alternative practitioners, who use herbs and their associations to have a stall on the day and inform our visitors and the public about their work.
For more information call The Organic Centre on 071-9854338,
e-mail: organiccentre@eircom.net, www.theorganiccentre.ie
